Our Story

After the passing of Alejandro’s parents, the 8 siblings each received a small inheritance. While gathered in Jalisco to celebrate the lives of their parents, the family decided to invest the inheritance together to create a business that would provide a legacy for their parents and could provide support to the family (and generations to come).

With the support of his family Alejandro took his background in Flavor technology and food chemistry to spearhead the project and create El Nivel an ode to tradition and family.

El Nivel was created to not only support the family who help build the story but to also uplift the community that continues to create each piece of this artwork. We utilize local artists, farmers, professionals, and other workers to provide economic support to the local communities that make our product special.

Our bottles are hand blown using recycled glass in Tlaquepaque, JAL a town enriched with a history of glass blowing tradition. The agave used in our tequila is grown organically and handpicked in the hills of Amatitan, JAL using practices that are designed to ensure the prosperity and fertility of the region and the earth for generations to come.

El Nivel translates to “the level” and pays homage to the first cantina to ever receive its liquor license in Mexico City.

The story of the El Nivel cantina reminds us to celebrate culture, family, and friends without sacrificing the diversity that makes us the individuals we are. A reminder to gather with the people from your community and celebrate all that life gives.
